About HONDA Transmission Assemblies Spare Parts
Accelerating and decelerating is controlled by your Honda's transmission assembly. Without a functioning transmission assembly in your car, you might find yourself unable to properly shift between gears, or in some cases, at all.
Besides the more well-known manual and automatic transmission assemblies, there are two other main classifications: the automated manual transmission (AMT) and the continuous variable transmission (CVT). The AMT, like the manual transmission, uses a mechanical clutch. The difference lies in how it controls the action of the clutch - it is electronically, pneumatically or hydraulically controlled automatically rather than with the clutch pedal. The CVT, on the other hand, has a continuously variable drive ratio instead of normal step gear ratios to allow for smooth acceleration without any breaks required for changing the gears. Unlike many other automobile manufacturers, Honda has a history of building its own transmissions (besides the ZF 9HP transmission for the Acura TLX V6 model, Acura MDX, Odyssey, Pilot and Ridgeline in 2014). Also, Honda's automatic transmissions don't use planetary gears, differing from those made by competitors.
