About DAIHATSU HIJET Transmission & Drivetrain Spare Parts
The Daihatsu Hijet's drivetrain delivers power generated from the engine to the wheels. Parts of the drivetrain include the driveshaft, a steel tube that transfers power from the transmission to other parts of the Hijet; CV joints that turn the drive wheels at a constant velocity; the differential, which drives the wheels while allowing them to rotate at different speeds; the axle shafts that transmit power from the final drive assembly to the drive wheels; the U-joints that mitigate misalignments between the transmission and the rear axle while at the same time transferring power to move the vehicle; and finally, the transmission that ensures that the appropriate amount of power gets to the wheels to drive them at any given speed.
The recent tenth generation Hijet (2014 to present) gets either a five-speed manual or a 3/4-speed automatic transmission. The five-speed manual on the two-wheel-drive Hijet comes with an auxiliary transmission, in addition to a high-geared rear differential, allowing for switching between a high mode that increases fuel efficiency and a low mode that maintains dynamic performance when carrying heavy loads off road. Older Hijets, on the other hand, are coupled to either 3/4/5 manuals or 3/4 automatics.
